Subaru has long been waiting to come up with its own hybrid model and this is finally the time when the major Nippon car maker has actually forayed into the US auto hybrid scene with its 2014 XV Crosstrek Hybrid. The model is a compact crossover backed by gasoline engine boosted up by electric motor. It will primarily operate as parallel hybrid yet it can also work through electric-only propulsion at times. The post here is a brief overview of Subaru 2014 XV Crosstrek Hybrid model.
The car is backed by 2.0 l boxer 4 internal-combustion engine which produces 148 hp & 145 pound feet torque. The first Subaru hybrid model needs 13.5 kW nickel hydride battery, unlike the Li-ion batteries common in other hybrid and electric cars. It’s designed with regenerative brake that works to refill the batteries whenever needed. In regards to fuel economy, the XV Crosstrek Hybrid assures 28 mpg for city & 34 mpg for highways- you are getting 5 & 4 mpg respectively over standard Crosstrek.
Then, the new Subaru hybrid model comes with all-wheel drive. The curb weight of the car is somewhat 300 lb heavier in comparison to standard Crosstrek. The major reason behind this weight gain is the noise suppression facility incorporated in the model- it needs thicker floor-section alongwith acoustic insulation. As the battery has been placed under rear seats, there will be a tad reduction in cargo space in respect to previous Crosstrek. The car sports smart aluminum wheels. In side you will find instrument panel that features readouts enabling the driver to stay in sync with fuel economy & system performance.
The Subaru 2014 XV Crosstrek Hybrid would be unveiled the coming fall. Though the exact price has not been declared still, yet as per the speculations the new hybrid Subaru model will be more to standard Crosstrek cost which is like $22,790.
